Another small update, Windows 11 Build 22000.194, is now available for testers in the Windows Insider program. Today’s patch, like the previous cumulative updates, focuses on bug fixes and quality improvements. No new features are included, however, testers will now have access to three new app upgrades.

The patch is titled “2021-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 for x64-based Systems (KB5005635)” and is now ready for beta testing. This update is also available in the Dev Channel for unsupported devices, and it can be obtained directly from Windows Update.

Before the intended October 5 release, Windows 11 KB5005635 is supposed to fix the remaining issues in the operating system. This release includes a number of bug fixes as well as one significant change: TPM 2.0 is now required in virtual machines such as Hyper-V Manager and VMWare.

PowerShell now creates an endless number of child directories, thanks to a Microsoft patch. When testers used the PowerShell Move-Item command, they discovered the flaw.

TPM is now required for all users of Windows 11

You can no longer install Windows 11 in virtual machines without TPM 2.0 after today’s cumulative update. Users could previously install the new operating system in virtual machines that didn’t match the minimal hardware requirements. After this preview update, that will change.

TPM 2.0 is now a requirement for virtual machines, Microsoft announced on Twitter. When Windows 11 is released to the public on October 5, TPM 2.0 is expected to be a mandatory requirement for all users.

The new cumulative updates will not be applied to VMs that do not currently use TPM. If you’re using Hyper-V, you can enable the TPM module by switching to a Generation 2 VM. VMWare users must first enable encryption (which requires free disc space) before adding the TPM 2.0 module from the VMWare settings.

How to install Windows 11 KB5005635

To install Windows 11 KB5005635 (Build 22000.194), follow these steps:

1. Open Windows Settings.
2. Head Windows Update page.
3. The download will begin automatically.

Once done, click on the “Restart now” button to apply the changes.

Anyways if you alter the registry or the media images, Windows 11 can be installed on any device (.ISO). You can also use Media Creation Control to install the new operating system, but this option will only be accessible in October.

Build 22000.194 has a number of known faults.

The following are known issues with Windows 11 Build 22000.194:

• The widgets board in Windows 11 is still not working for everyone. Users may not see updates in the widgets panel in some 
  configurations, and they must sign out and then sign back in to resolve the issue.
• The Windows widgets may show in the wrong size on various displays, however this may be remedied by launching 
  the widgets on your actual PC display.
• If Windows Search stops working for you, use Task Manager to restart the “Windows Explorer” process and reopen 
  the search panel. This is because the search panel on some PCs may seem black.
• When you type text in Search from Start or the Taskbar, the taskbar is unable to detect it. Open Windows Run (WIN)
  and close the dialogue to fix the problem.

If you find a new significant flaw in the update, as always, you can uninstall it and reinstall Windows 10. If you want to uninstall this fix, go to Settings > Windows Update > Control Panel and uninstall it.
