What is a Graphics Card?
A Graphics card is hardware that’s wont to increase the video memory of a computer, and make its display quality more high-definition. It makes the pc more powerful and provides it the capacity to try to do more high-level works. The quality of the image depends on the quality of the graphics card. It is considered important for gaming and video editing on a PC. Every game needs a graphics memory to start and it depends on the sort of the sport, and therefore the requirements are mentioned on the sport box.
THE BEGINNING: 1940
In the history of the graphics card, the first graphics card was utilized in the Saga computing system because of the trainer in 1940 by the US military. That graphics card display only 256 colors.
ERA OF ASCEND OF GRAPHICS CARD:
In 1981 IBM introduced Monochrome Display Adapter. Arguably not a graphics card, you’ll assume just a display card.
In 1983 Intel released the iSBX 275 video graphics card which may be a mildly revolutionary device that was capable of displaying eight unique color resolutions at 256 by 256. In 1988 a Canada-based company introduced 16 bit, fully 2D VGA card.
ERA OF MAJOR DEVELOPMENT OF GRAPHICS CARD:
In 1992 Silicon Graphics Inc (SGI) released OpenGL 1.0, agnostic application programming interface (API) for 2D and 3D both supported the graphics card. Initially, OpenGL aimed at professional UNIX-based businesses. But with developer-friendly support. It was adopted for 3D gaming.
In 1998 The Voodoo2 delivered Voodoo2 3sfx within the market. And that card supports high resolutions 1024 by 768.
In 1999 GeForce arrived 256 (DDR version), Nvidia video card, being called a GPU. GeForce supports DirectX7, and it had been capable of processing a minimum of 10 million polygons per second.
In 2004 GeForce introduce Nvidia GeForce 6 Series 6600 and 6800. A card that gives popular among overclockers was the first 6800. Using an overclocking program is called RivaTuner. Support PureVideo technology and multi-video card with SLI. If the graphics card displayed artifacts after applying the software mod, the first settings could easily restore.
In 2006 GeForce introduced the GTX 8800 which was the simplest graphics card ever didn’t fiddle within the world. Nvidia’s inner monster with 129 streaming processors, 575MHz core speed, 768MB of DDR3 memory.
In 2009 AMD took over ATI and released Radeon HD 5970. The dual GPU card has called an “elongated monument to 3D excess”.
In 2014 Geforce introduce Evga GeForce GTX 750 ti. Low power consumption and performance that surpasses its predecessors which will allow you to the sport even at 1080P also features 2 GB of GDDR5 memory set to a quad-pumped speed of 5400 MHz.
In 2016 Nvidia has released a mid-range graphics card, the GeForce GTX 1060 in 3GB and 6GB. Nvidia cooling system allows you to overclock the cardboard heavily.

In 2017 Geforce introduces the GTX 1080 Ti. Low power consumption and has a memory size of about 11GB. Further, in may Nvidia has released TITAN XP with a memory size of 12GB. In December, the Volta series of Nvidia comes out, which was Nvidia TITAN V with a memory size of 12 GB, which is considered as the world’s most powerful graphics card ever created for the PC, driven by the world’s most advanced architecture.
AMD Radeon RX launched RX 540 with a memory size of 2048MB GDDR5, RX580 with a memory size of 8GB GDDR5, RX550 with a memory size of 4GB GDDR5, and RX570 with a memory size of 8GB GDDR5 in the month of April and RX560 with a memory size of 4GB GDDR5 in the month of May.

In 2018 Nvidia launched Quadro GV100 with the memory configuration of 8GB GDDR6 in the month of March and later on launched the three different series of Quadro RTX in August and November – RTX 8000 with a memory configuration of 48GB GDDR6 with ECC, RTX 6000 with a memory configuration of 24GB GDDR6, RTX 5000 with a memory configuration of 16GB GDDR6, and RTX 4000 with a memory configuration of 8GB GDDR6.
In the month of September Nvidia, two different brands Tesla and GeForce launched Tesla T4 with a memory configuration of 16GB GDDR6 and GeForce RTX 2080 Ti with a memory configuration of 11GB GDDR6 respectively. GeForce released two more graphics cards in the month of October and December and it was GeForce RTX 2070 with a standard memory configuration of 8GB GDDR6 and TITAN RTX with a standard memory configuration of 24GB GDDR6 respectively.
AMD launched Radeon Pro WX 8200 with a memory configuration of 8GB HBM2 in the month of August and in the month of November Radeon Instinct MI50 Accelerator with a standard memory configuration of 32GB AND 16GB.
In 2019 GeForce launched three different graphics card in the month of January, February, and April which was RTX 2060 with a standard memory configuration of 6GB GDDR6, GTX 1650 Ti with a standard configuration of 4GB GDDR5 and GTX 1660 TI with a standard configuration of 6GB GDDR6 respectively. In June Quadro launched Quadro P2200 with a memory interface of 5GB GDDRx. In November, Tesla launched TESLA V100S with a memory configuration of 32GB.

In 2020 TESLA launched TESLA A100 in the month of May with a memory configuration of 40GB.
AMD launched Radeon RX 5600 XT memory configuration is the same as RX5700 only thing is that memory has been reduced to 2GB and Radeon Pro W5500 with a memory configuration of 8GB GDDR6 in the month of January and February respectively.
WHAT’S GONNA BE IT LIKE IN THE FUTURE?
It’s important to remember that the advancements in GPU technology trickle down. they don’t come all at once even when a technology comes to market, it often takes years or even decades for it to become cost-effective to introduce it to the mainstream.
So, what’s your take on the GPU world?
